8 Must Visit Shopping Places in Bangalore

Are you bored of the same buy 1 get 1 offer in the nearest shopping mall ? Get some fresh air this weekend by visiting a new place. With the increase of shopping malls, and its soaring parking fees it is really worth to know budget friendly shopping places in Bangalore. Young generation  is ready to go anywhere in Bangalore provided a good deal of shopping is available.

I have listed 8 shopping streets/areas which are popular in Bangalore (Based my personal experience). Since google map shows the location precisely, I have not given focus on writing directions in detail.

Bengaluru-first city to get its own logo

1. Gandhi Bazar: I lived close to this locality for more than 2 years. Gandhi Bazar known to be one of oldest market in the city. The famous market located in the vicinity of Basavanagudi area and very close to famous garden Lal- Bag.Nearest metro station is "National College" which is about 10min walk. Variety of small vendors vividly located in Gandhi Bazar. DVG Road here is very well known street. A mile long street sells cloths, toys, street food, flowers, books, footwear and many more. Vidyarthi Bhavan, a very famous restaurant situated here (you can get nice Dose).

2. Commercial Street: Commercial Street located near MG Road. Probably I have visited this place 4-5 times so far but hardly done any shopping. Many of my friends have given a good feedback on this street where they have got good deal in cloths purchase. Place is accessible easily from MG Road metro station.

3. Avenue Road: Avenue Road runs through the heart of the city. This street is known for Books! Lot of small vendors as well as large retails shops sell almost all type of books. I have purchased few of my engineering related technical books few years back. Used books are available at a reasonably lesser price. Street is busy pretty much all days in a week. Getting a parking space is a miracle here. So it is recommended park the vehicle in the nearby area and trust on your foot. Whether you buy or not, it is worth visiting this books hub.

4. SP Road: SP Road know for electronics items in Bangalore. Shop selling laptops, desktop, mobile phones and accessories and many more are visible. My old desktop mother board got repaired here for just INR 200/-. Where as a well know showroom asked me INR 1500! All you need to do is get some bargain deals!

5. M.G Road/Brigade Road: M.G Road and Brigade road are adjacent to each other. It is considered as one of premium shopping streets in Bangalore. Having said that, it does not mean that only expensive items you get here. Budget items also can be purchased provided you make a good bargain. Getting a parking lot in these roads is tough. Most parking places are paid one.

6. Jayanagara 4th Block: Jayanagara is one of my favorite areas. This layout is well planned. Jayanagar 4th Block surroundings occupied by many vendors selling cloths, bags etc. Once you are close to 4th Block bus stand, walk little further towards BDA complex. This is where you get lot of good deals (make sure you bargain).

7. Malleswaram Market: The famous fictional place 'MALGUDI' is created out of first 3 letters of Malleswaram (MAL) and Basavanagudi (GUDI). Malleswaram still possess old charm of Bangalore. The street shopping near 8th cross is good place to explore the area. The famous Mantri Mall is also located near-by and has a metro station as well.

8. Chickpet: Chickpet is known for good supply of silk sarees. Bargain persistently to get good deal. Roads are narrow here and area is crowded hence please have some patience. Generally most shops open by 10AM. Reach early if you want to avoid crowd.

This is an iconic phone. Nokia 1110i does not require introduction. It ruled basic phone segment in India. Though it does not have many options it is meant for tough use. With the smart phone entry these kind phones hardly available at the market.

Shivagange Hills

Shivagange Hills, was one of my “To Visit” places. Even though I am in Bangalore from few years, I never visited this place. I and my friend decided to go on our motorcycles early morning of 12th April 2015. Though we wanted to start 5 am, we started at 5.30 am (IPL fever, previous night RCB match! )
